Now open in Valletta: Romègas Hotel

Malta has a new luxury hotel with the opening of Romègas Hotel in the heart of Valletta.

Set within a restored 16th-century palazzo on Old Bakery Street, the intimate hotel features just 22 individually designed rooms and suites, combining the building’s historic character with bespoke craftsmanship, contemporary Maltese design and a residential atmosphere.

The history of the palazzo is closely connected to Mathurin Romègas, one of the most distinguished Knights of the Order of St John, whose legacy gives the hotel its name.

Maltese creativity also plays an important role throughout the property. A curated collection of original works commissioned from local artists has been created specifically for the hotel, with individual pieces reflecting the character of the building, its history and its connection to Valletta.

Food and beverage is centred around Caviar & Bull Valletta by renowned Maltese chef Marvin Gauci. The restaurant combines local and Mediterranean ingredients with contemporary techniques, bringing Gauci’s signature approach to Maltese cuisine.

The Courtyard Lounge, located within one of the palazzo’s internal courtyards, serves as the hotel’s cocktail bar and a natural extension of Caviar & Bull.

Above the city, the rooftop brings together a swimming pool, terrace and cocktail bar, with views across Valletta and Marsamxett Harbour.
