Accor plans a new Sofitel in Tangier alongside hospitality academy for local talent

Accor is expanding its presence in Morocco with plans for a new Sofitel in Tangier, scheduled to open by 2029. The project forms part of a broader strengthening of its long-standing partnership with Risma.

Set on Tangier’s new corniche, Sofitel Tangier will offer panoramic views of the Strait and is expected to add a fresh luxury address to the city’s seafront. The hotel is reportedly planned to have 175 rooms.

Beyond the hotel, Accor and Risma also announced they will co-fund a Tourism and Hospitality Training Academy in Morocco. The academy is intended to support training and professional integration, with a focus on developing local talent and preparing future generations of tourism professionals.

The announcement also signals upgrades across Accor and Risma’s existing hotel portfolio in Morocco.
