Marriott’s newest brand is dedicated to luxury wellness hospitality

Marriott is making a decisive move into one of the fastest-growing segments of global travel: luxury wellness. Through a newly announced joint venture with Italian brand Lefay, the group is launching its 39th brand – and notably, its first fully dedicated to wellbeing.
Rather than building from scratch, Marriott is partnering with an established operator known for its focus on holistic health, sustainability and nature-led design. The collaboration reflects Marriott’s growing focus on wellness within luxury hospitality.
At the heart of this new brand are two founding properties in Italy that define Lefay’s philosophy:
Lefay Resort & SPA Lago di Garda, set on a hillside above Lake Garda with panoramic lake views, and Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti, the latter located in the UNESCO-listed Dolomites.
The partnership reflects both brand alignment and timing. For Marriott, the joint venture provides a strategic entry into this segment. Rather than developing a concept independently, the group is leveraging Lefay’s established expertise and operational model, while contributing its global scale, development pipeline and distribution platform.
Beyond its two Italian properties, Lefay has three additional projects in development – in Tuscany, Southern Italy and the Swiss Alps.
The launch also reflects a broader shift in how luxury is being framed, with increasing emphasis on wellbeing and meaningful experiences. Lefay’s resorts are conceived not simply as hotels with spas, but as integrated wellness environments where architecture, landscape, nutrition and science come together.
