Mandarin Oriental has announced its debut in Egypt with a collection of historic landmark properties:
In Aswan, Mandarin Oriental will take over management of the historic Old Cataract hotel from May 2026. The property will continue to welcome guests within its heritage building while an extensive renovation of the Nile Wing is carried out. The full project is scheduled for completion in July 2027, when the hotel will officially join the portfolio as Mandarin Oriental Old Cataract, Aswan. Set high above the river and facing the Temple of Khnum, the hotel will offer elegant rooms and suites, six dining venues, The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, and thoughtfully designed spaces intended to encourage reflection and a deeper connection with the surrounding landscape.
In Luxor, the legendary Winter Palace will close in early 2026 to undergo a full restoration, reopening in July 2027 as Mandarin Oriental Winter Palace, Luxor. Overlooking the Nile and located close to the Temple of Luxor, the hotel will feature a refined collection of rooms and suites, six dining venues, and The Spa at Mandarin Oriental set within serene gardens, alongside elegant event spaces. Honouring its storied legacy while introducing a contemporary spirit, the hotel will re-emerge as a hub for cultural discovery and leisure.
In Cairo, Mandarin Oriental Shepheard, Cairo is highly anticipated to open in 2027. The celebrated hotel first opened its doors in 1841. Located on the eastern shore of the Nile in the heart of Downtown Cairo, it will offer sweeping views across the city, the river, and Gezira Island.
Additionally, Mandarin Oriental, Nile Cruise will bring the Group’s signature hospitality to the historic waters of the Nile, offering three, four, and seven-night itineraries between Luxor and Aswan.
Together, the three landmark hotels and the Nile cruise position Mandarin Oriental at the heart of Egypt’s most significant cultural destinations.
