Capella to make European debut in Florence

Capella Hotels and Resorts will make its European debut with the opening of Capella Florence, currently expected in 2027.

Located on Via San Gallo, close to Piazza della Libertà and the Duomo, the hotel will occupy a historic complex whose origins date back more than 800 years.
The site was once home to the convents of Sant’Agata, San Clemente and Santa Lucia di Camporeggi before later serving as a military hospital.

Its restoration is being led by Italian architectural firms RPA and De Vita & Schulze, while the interiors have been entrusted to French design house Liaigre.
Capella Florence will feature 89 hotel rooms, comprising 56 guestrooms and 33 suites, alongside 10 exclusive private residences with a separate entrance.

The hotel will also offer two restaurants showcasing Tuscan cuisine and Japanese omakase, a rooftop bar, a subterranean wine vault, and a separate clubhouse housing a 600 sqm spa and fitness centre with a hydrotherapy pool.
Historic elements, including an indoor amphitheatre inspired by the site’s monastic past, will be carefully preserved as part of the redevelopment.
The opening will bring one of the world’s most acclaimed luxury hotel brands to Europe. Capella Hotels and Resorts has been voted the No. 1 Best Hotel Brand in the World in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards for four consecutive years, from 2023 to 2026.
