Where Taormina’s Hotel Story Began: Villa Timeo Returns in 2026 within Belmond’s Grand Hotel Timeo

Taormina’s hospitality history is set to come full circle. In May 2026, Villa Timeo will reopen within Belmond’s Grand Hotel Timeo, reclaiming its place as the property that marked the beginning of hotel life in Taormina.
Originally welcoming guests in 1873, Villa Timeo occupies a unique position in Sicily’s tourism heritage. Following an extensive renovation, the historic villa will emerge as an intimate luxury retreat, seamlessly integrated into the Grand Hotel Timeo experience while retaining its own distinctive identity.
Located just a few steps from the main hotel building, Villa Timeo will offer guests full access to all Grand Hotel Timeo amenities. Among the most anticipated additions is the new Dior Spa, also opening in 2026, marking a glamorous new chapter for wellness in Taormina.
The Dior Spa at Grand Hotel Timeo is conceived as an exclusive sanctuary of serenity. Designed around Dior Wellness philosophy, the spa will feature Bio-Energising therapies, Haute-Couture facials and curated half-day Wellness Villeggiaturas, each infused with the spirit of Sicilian art de vivre.
Villa Timeo itself will comprise 21 rooms, designed to embrace exceptional views over the Mediterranean. The interiors are being reimagined by acclaimed designer Laura Gonzalez, bringing a refined new vision to the historic villa.
The reopening of Villa Timeo further strengthens Belmond’s presence in Italy. Also announced is the reopening of Villa San Michele in Florence in spring 2026, following an eighteen-month renovation of the iconic 15th-century monastery.
