Coming in 2027 near Madrid: Six Senses Quexigal Palace

We are seeing plenty of exciting luxury hotel openings this year, but 2027 promises to be even more interesting. Among the properties already on our radar is Six Senses Quexigal Palace, set to open in the Spanish countryside near Madrid.
Located in Ávila, around 50 minutes from the Spanish capital, the new Six Senses will transform El Quexigal, a historic country estate built in 1563 by Juan de Herrera, the architect behind the nearby El Escorial. The estate was later acquired by King Felipe II as a country retreat for the Royal House and was run by Hieronymite monks, who produced wine, olive oil, honey and other food on the land.
Set across a 100-hectare estate, Six Senses Quexigal Palace is being conceived as a contemporary interpretation of a 16th-century royal village, with the main palace and its auxiliary buildings being restored and repurposed. Madrid-based Arvo Arquitectura is overseeing the architecture in collaboration with French interior designer Raphaël Navot.
The resort will feature 60 guest accommodations distributed across the main and auxiliary buildings, including 13 suites and a presidential suite with private gardens. A fully serviced five-bedroom villa will provide a separate option for families, groups and private events.
Food and beverage will focus on local, sustainable and seasonal produce, including ingredients grown on the surrounding estate. Plans include a signature restaurant, private dining spaces throughout the gardens, a tasting room, pool bar and grill, as well as a secret bar and another bar housed in the former aviary.
Wellness will naturally play a central role. Six Senses Spa is planned with six treatment rooms, a vitality pool, infrared and Finnish saunas, steam room, halotherapy cave and ice bath.
The property’s countryside setting will also provide opportunities for outdoor activities and exploration, while its proximity to the European Space Agency’s Cebreros Station and favourable conditions for observing the night sky will be reflected in a dedicated observation deck.
