San Francisco start-up GRU Space has released renders for a hotel on the Moon.
According to the company, the first hotel is planned to be landed and deployed on the Moon in 2032. Built on Earth and delivered by a heavy lander, the inflatable structure would be installed to host up to 4 guests for multi-day stays. Designed to operate for a period of 10 years, the hotel is envisioned to offer views of both the lunar landscape and Earth. Proposed experiences include surface activities such as moonwalks, driving, golfing, and other lunar-based experiences.
Looking further ahead, GRU Space outlines plans for a long-term presence on the Moon. Future missions would scale construction using in-situ resource utilisation systems and robotic equipment, with modular inflatable habitats enclosed by structures made from lunar material. This approach would increase guest capacity from 4 to 10 and extend the hotel’s operational life.
The hotel is planned to be accessible via commercial flights operated by companies such as Blue Origin and SpaceX.
