Exciting news from Estonia: Eha Retreat to open this summer on Hiiumaa Island

in Future Openings, Wellness
Fully immersed in the serene beauty and untouched wilderness of Hiiumaa, Eha Retreat invites guests to embark on a journey towards rest, renewal and long-term vitality.
Set within a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Eha is surrounded by protected landscapes of forests, wetlands and coastal nature, far removed from the industrial world.
The intimate destination will feature eight suites and three forest cabins, accommodating up to 22 guests at a time. Architecture is by Estonian architect Tiit Trummal, with interiors by UNT+CO and Studio Argus.
The culinary programme will be led by Michelin Green Star chef Peeter Pihel, with seasonal produce from the organic kitchen garden complemented by local ingredients, including wild seaweed, fermented forest berries, garden herbs and seasonal vegetables.
The retreat is led by General Manager Amber Gauci-Ward, who brings extensive international hospitality and wellness experience to the project, guiding the property as it prepares to welcome its first guests.
The holistic spa will include treatment rooms as well as indoor and outdoor pools overlooking nature. Technology-free zones will support digital detox and encourage deep rest. Treatments draw inspiration from Estonian healing traditions, with rituals including whole-body peat wraps sourced from the island’s mineral-rich wetlands, birch sauna ceremonies, wild herb foraging and dawn mist walks.
With an emphasis on balance and longevity, Eha’s programmes are shaped around the concept of five distinct seasons, reflecting the subtle natural shifts unique to the island. Alongside spring, summer, autumn and winter, the retreat recognises a fifth transitional season known as “Springrise”, a period of quiet recalibration that informs treatments, rituals and guest experiences throughout the year.
Retreats are already bookable from August, beginning with the Midsummer Vitality Retreat running from August 30 to September 4.
